Surveys and press releases from (most notably) CNN, HSBC Offshore, Business Week, and ECA International rank Singapore as one of the best, if not number one, cities in which to live.

HSBC conducts an annual survey called the Expat Explorer that seeks to find the best places to live as an expat, top places to raise children abroad and the challenges expats face when relocating. According to one surveyed expat, Singapore expat life can be summarized in the words: "better salary, better lifestyle." The survey notes that Singapore expats live the "high life."  They are the 7th ranked country for available disposable income, with more than three-quarters stating that they have more spending money compared to their home country. Furthermore, almost half of expats in Singapore report to have more than $4,000 in disposable income. Despite this, three-quarters report to be saving more than when residing in their home countries. Amidst a major economic downturn almost all expats in Singapore say that they have not considered returning home.

CNN-Go, a subsidiary of CNN, is the "ultimate insider guide" to Asia. According to them, Singapore is the world's greatest city.  The number one reason being Singapore is the food capital of the world. Highlights of the article's 50 reasons include: natural disaster free, an extremely low crime-rate, and one of the best healthcare infrastructures in the world.

Ultimately, Singapore has a very high quality of living. It is a truly multi-cultural society with four official languages and cultures coexisting in evident harmony. The Government is committed to ensuring the well being of its people. Singapore even has a Restroom Association who comb the island in search of the causes of dirty facilities and spread the word on good toilet etiquette!
