Incentives to Support Australia Company Incorporation

The Australian government provides, on a case-by-case basis, incentives to investors interested in Australia Company incorporation. According to the government-run agency InvestAustralia, the Federal government provides incentives if it considers that a project offers significant economic benefits to the country.

Incentives Available to Support Australia Company Incorporation
1.
Under the Australian Trade Commission's (Austrade) Export Markets Development Scheme, small and medium-sized Australian Companies are encouraged to develop their export markets. Eligible Companies can receive up to 50% reimbursement on export promotion expenses above a threshold of A$15,000. Australian government agency AusIndustry provides a range of programmes to help Australian Companies with their research and development (R&D) work, including:
i)
Commercial Ready, a programme which is providing A$200 million in competitive grants to small and medium-sized businesses between May 2004 and November 2010;
ii)
Pharmaceutical Partnerships Program, which provides grants of up to 50% of R&D expenditure on eligible pharmaceutical R&D activities in Australia;
  iii)
R&D tax concession, which allows companies to deduct up to 125% of qualifying expenditure incurred on R&D activities when lodging their corporate tax return;
iv)
Renewable Energy Development Initiative to support the innovation and commercialisation of renewable energy. The initiative provides grants of between A$50,000 and A$5 million for R&D activities, proof of concept and early-stage commercialisation projects.

Incentives Criteria
The Australian government considers some of the following criteria when assessing eligibility for Australia Company incorporation incentives:

Whether the investment would occur in Australia without the incentive.
2.
Whether the Australia Company incorporation is likely to provide significant net economic benefits to the country.
3.
Whether the investment involves substituting existing production capacity in Australia to provide an unfair advantage over rival projects
