Togo corporate tax obligations

  1. Corporate tax in Togo is imposed at a standard rate of 29%. All registered entities must register for tax with the Togolese Tax Authority and file annual returns by the 31st of March following the end of the tax year;
  2. The Value Added Tax (VAT) is levied at a standard rate of 18%. Companies engaged in certain services including financial, insurance, medical, and transport services are exempted from VAT;
  3. A 20% withholding tax is applicable on i) dividends and ii) interests paid to both resident and non-resident companies;
  4. A 15% withholding tax is applicable on i) royalties and ii) technical services fees paid to non-resident companies;
  5. Employers in Togo must submit a monthly social security contribution of 17.5% of their employees’ monthly gross salary;
  6. Other taxes in Togo include i) 5% payroll tax on gross salaries, ii) 15% property tax levied on the rental value of real property, iii) 0.2% business tax imposed on the company’s annual turnover;
  7. The Togolese Republic is so far signatory to only 2 double tax treaties with France and Tunisia;
