  1. The standard corporate tax rate levied on all net profits derived from Moldova is at a flat rate of 12%. Tax returns are filed yearly and the fiscal year runs January 1st to December 31st so taxes must be filed by the 31st of March of the subsequent fiscal year;
  2. Branches pay a corporate tax rate of 12% and there is no branch remittance tax in Moldova;
  3. The standard VAT rate levied on provision of goods and services in Moldova is at a flat rate of 20%. VAT is not levied on exports;
  4. Capital gains tax in Moldova is levied at the rate of 6%;
  5. Withholding tax levied on i) dividends paid to both residents and non-residents at 6% ii) royalties paid to both residents and non-residents at 12% iii) interest paid to residents at 15% and to non-residents at 12% and iv) services at 12% to non-residents. Rents are taxed at the rate of 10%;
  6. Losses can be carried forward for up to three years;
  7. Employers must submit to the relevant authorities social security contributions on behalf of their employees at the rate of 23% as well as medical insurance contributions at the rate of 4%;
  8. The National Bank of Moldova determines foreign exchange controls and foreign investors can freely repatriate profits to other countries;
  9. Moldova has concluded double tax avoidance treaties with 45 countries including Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom;
