The merchant carries out activities classed by credit card processing companies as high risk, including online casinos or gambling activities; businesses involving digital cash and e-wallets; adult content; online tobacco sales; counterfeit products; online travel agencies and online pharmacies. Note however that there are restrictions on opening a high risk merchant account if activities are illegal or offensive to public order and morals. |

The merchant's business is not registered. |

Credit card processing companies have blacklisted the merchant or if the merchant does not have a stable credit history. |

The merchant processes either large sales volumes thus enhancing their risk, or small volumes which would make a merchant account ineffective given the need for fraud screening softwares. |
